With reference to paragraph 6 of

Sir F. D. Lugard's Despatch No. 213 of the 26th. July,

1909, I have the honour to report that, upon the death of

Mr. H. J. Watson, a permanent post was found for Mr. R. H.

A. Craig as 1st. Clerk in the Mercantile Marine Office at

a salary of £270 per annum with an allowance for overtime

work at $5 per hour not exceeding $800 per annum in all.

Mr. Craig accepted this appoint-

-ment on the 25th. of last February on probation and, as

he has proved himself competent in the post, I have the

honour to recommend that he should be confirmed in it.
